Breaking Silence
BASEL School of Design (Poster workshop)
one of the great experience that i had and I've been privileged enough to have the opportunity to take a role in one of the most esteemed design school in Europe and share that experience with over 20 other designers and students who came from all over the globe.
the brief was to choose one neutral word, and have it dragged into one side extreme or subtle, i choose the word "Belong" as you can belong to anything, but as a someone living abroad away from home you always wonder where you actually belong. Communities are sometimes a barrier, even if we do no realize it, its like an infinite wall once you're in it you're stuck, but once you're out you cannot go in anymore, i choose a cylinder shape because it has no edges and it resembles infinity cycle. The word is disintegrating slowly from the outside, but its bold and readable from the inside, the forms of the letter were done by hand and i made sure my inexperience and faults shows, because its not suppose to look perfect. the arabic phrase مني لك السلام which means "i send my regards" works as a double meaning for someone who is missing home or is saying goodby to home.
